However Windows 10 keeps automatically downloading the newer version 4.05, and I have to start the process all over again.

I had to uninstall SMART GESTURE from the control panel, reboot, install an older version (I think version 2.2.5) and then reboot again, and it works! This version doesn't work with my ASUS N550JV. Everything was fine, until Windows 10 updated Smart Gesture to version 4.05. Hopefully asus will release a fix for their new "fix" I just finished reinstalling and smart gesture is good to go! what worked for me (at least for now) is to uninstall the upgraded version, and download the official windows 8.1 version: I tried reinstalling the "official" windows 10 release to no avail. When I initially upgraded to windows 10 a week ago I had no problem, but just today I got a message saying that it was upgrading my smart gesture, oddly enough that seems to be what breaks it.
